FAST PASSENGER
AND AIRPLANE RACE

NEW ORLEANS, Mar, 26. A
race between the Sunset Limited,
Southern Pacific fast train and an
airplane which began at Houston,
Tex., ended last night at Garyville,
near here, when the airplane bear
ing L. J. Dale, made a forced land
ing. Mr. Dale, who with his wife was
traveling from Los Angeles to New
fYork got off the train at Houton
to purchase a magazine. When he
returned the train was gone. He
obtained a commercial airplane
and followed the route the train
had taken. He landed at Lake
Charles, La., when he mistook a
train for the one trailed. Again
taking the airplane, he was near
lug New Orleans when the ship
was forced down. ,
Mrs. Dale was met at the station
here by a matron who gave neve
a telegram from Mr Dale rtquet
ing her to wait at the station un
til he arrived by automobile or
train.

formation was forthcoming.
