Mr. Bitter was in poor health for many months prior to his death, and a few days ao, realizing that tho end was near, prepared his own obituary, which he asked be furnished for the information of hi Iriends fol lowing his death. Judge Oeorge Washington Wonacott, for mer niemlier of the Oregon legisla ture, a good roads pioneer of the stale, and couniy Judi?e of Don Has county for eight years, died today at his home iu (ire.sham on his 7'Jth birthday. He was a democrat nnd several years ago was urged by many of his friends as a candidate for tho nomination for yovernor, but he de clined to outer the race because of his age. Judge Wonacott was born March 20. S46, in New River Va. He moved to Virginia City, III , In isr.H. anil served during the Civil war with company II HiSth Illinois in fantry. In 1SH1 he drove across the plains In a covered wagon to be for a time with his friend. Dr. Hlalock, after whom Hlalock, Wash., was named. lie continued to Hosebnrg, Ore., in 1SK2, and there, a little later, was chosen county Judge. In lxus and again In Hioo the people of the county elected him to the legis lature. When Judge Wonacott entered public life In Douglas coiiutv the county was deeply In debt and the community was served by poor roads. Ho took his stand In pio neering for good hlghwavs and he was a leader In forming the plans that extricated the county from d-ht. His work made him widelv j known throughout the state. About 10 years ago he moved to On-sham to make his home. He I was a member of the tlresham . grange and the Gresh:ini post of j the O. A. H. Judge Ol-nn's Information is that Graf's death was sudden and that doctors assigned heart dis ease as the cause. Counsel for William l. Shepherd, accused of killing his foster son. William Xflson MeClintock with typhoid germs, were prepared today for an effort to obtain his freedom en bail, which states attorneys were ready to oppoe. Kaitnan, Ifad of a science school, who said he gave Shepherd the germs for a promised I UO.Oimi, and who was jointly indicted with him. Kan., arrived here today to take back to his state Moses Hfnd, alias Will Johnson, who Is held in the Mar ion county jail nnd who is wanted In Scott City, Kan., on a charge of blgamv. An extradition hearing will be held In the office of Gov ernor Pierce at 2 o'clock this af ternoon. According to the requisition brought here by Sheriff Cook, Hind has a wife living with her fa ther at Stella. Mo., whom he mar ried December 2."), 1!12. lly this wife he has four children, the youngest of whom is not yet a month old. Recently after working m lh harvest fields of Kansas and making various other movements, he went to Healy, Kansas, where he joined Goldina Wallace, 20 years old, whom Sheriff Cook de scribes as "one of the finest girls In our country." Hind had met her during the harvest season. They went to Scott City where they were married by a probate judge Novemher 20 last. Soon after ward they left for Oregon and were traced to Salem. When Hind was arrested by Mar lon county officers h-. his wife and her sister were living here and Hind was taking a course in automobile mechanics in Portland. The Salem authorities claimed that she did not know Hind had another wife. Her mother signed the complaint against Hind.
