THREE ARRESTED WITH STOLEN CAR James. HIckey, Wra. Peterson and Fred Murray, were arrested yesterday evening at Nonpareil, 13 miles east of Sutherlin. Hickoy confessed to two auto thefts, and was taken to Grants Pass to ans wer to a charge of stealing a Kord touring car there. Th9 three had been riding In the car and went east of Sutherlin, wrecking the car near Nonpareil. Deputy Sheriff I,ens picked them up as they were walking, back to town, and placed tnem under arrest. HIckey made a written confes sion, stating that be bad stolen the Ford, car at Grants Pass, the machine' being the property of tbe Oregon state highway commis sion, and also stating that he bad stolen a car at Med ford the day be fore and left it In Grants Pass. The other two young men were not con cerned in the crimn, it was main tained, and were released. Hickey was taken back to Grants Pass this morning by Josephine county of ficers. The plain tiff declared the countess had giv en ber "an enormous quantity of clothes," and was "marvelously kind," during the two years she was on terms of greatest friend ship with the late Earl of Carnar von, 'discoverer of the tomb of King Tut-Ankh-Amen, and bis wife. Daugherty charged with sale and delivery of Intoxi cating liquor. The two men, ac cording to Mr. Daugherty, made sales and deliveries to a special agent employed by the county. They were brought to Roseburg and arraigned before Justice of the Peace George Jones who placed them each under $lbO bail, and as they were unable to pay the amount, they will be confin ed to Jail until their trial can be held.
