EIGHT ROSEBURG NEWS-REVlEW FRIDAY. FEBRUARY 20, 1923. I Everybody was expecting it. The sombre, heavy colorings and the old cut of the garment couldn't be excused any longer. And now what a welcome change! And how the makers of ADLER COLLEGIAN CLOTI 1ES are showing what art in clothing really is. Such casy draping lines, full of style and refinement, are a revelation; and the colors pastel shades of laven der, blue, tan and grey. No wonder the best dres3ed men in Roscburg are coming in every day to pick their new Spring clothes here. $25 to PEN MORONI-DLSEN CO. AliAliN bUlXEOM' UL, Duplicating tho success of! Crorker of Koseburg, aa members of the commission wtis returned to the houne today by the judiciary committee, following u tilt In the house yesterday over the bill which aims to lake the appointive power from the governor. The amendment wouRl take the appointive power away from the governor only on this occasion, and j rest on It to him later. The original jbill which would have placed the power in the board of control, was introduced by Senator Ritner and passed the senate February 12. When It came up for third reading in the house yesterday it was re- f erred to the ludiciarv commit lee TOPUTGROCKER DW STATE BOARD of Rlue-ion motion of Representative Ham j mond. When told of the amendment I this morning. Governor Walter M. ! Pierce banged his table with his ' fist and declared: "i ll veto that jju.-tt like i ll veto any other inea ! sure that .seeks to take away lumi the governors oliicii any Invented power." The appointment of Mr. Crocker upon this commission as proposed in the bill returned to the house to day, is the result of the promise of Oovernor Fierce to appoint a man from the second district upon the commission. It was at first proposed to ap point Jefferson Myers of Portland, a personal friend of Coventor Pierce to the office, but Mr. Mrs is a resident of Portland, where Mr. Keiui.tll also lives. Roseburg is in llie nccond district, and Governor Pierce had pieviously pronii.-.ed that a representative o the second district would be placed upon the board. Mr. Crocker whs active in the formation of the Roseburg Rod and liuu Club and has always taken a keen inlet est in fish and game mat leis. lie has been .n close connec tion Mth the commi.-ston and its activities In recent years and is thoroughly conusant with its dut ies and w ot k.
