Fulrty heavy rains were experienced from San Francisco north last night, but the head of the storm Is expected to arrive from tho uorth Pacific tonight. The storm area is tile greatest of the si ason to date, covering virtually all of the north Pacific. A feature is the absence of winds, the gule warnings which were posted along the coast when the storm was first sight ed yesterday, being taken down tills morning. ROBBERS GET $17,000 RAN FRANCISCO, Dec. 4 Three messengers for the Pacific Gas and Electric company, on Iheir way to a bank, were held up' In front of the company's offices and robbed of $17,000, It was re ported to the police today. The messengers, from the cash ier's office of tho company had just left tho building when three young men stepped from an ad joining building and covered Ihu messengers with pistols. Obtain ing the packages, the robbers rati through the yard of au adjacent church. One of the packages, the copi pany stated, contained 23.0i)0 In securities and this was recovered from an alley where the men bad dropped It. They got away with the other package, which contain ed $17,000 In cash. The men were seen to get Into an automobllu after they bad dodged around the church. A man In another car tried to pursue them but was deterred by the wav ing of pistols.
