Tbe basic course, and Red, White and Clue courses In Infantry, cav alry, field artiller, engineers and signal corps, will be provided at Camp L.ewis. Tneae courses Deing based upon the number of times the applicant has attended the camps or the previous militry training which he has received. Tbe objects of these camps are to bring together young men of high type from all sections of the coun try and thereby develop closer na tional and social unity; to teach the privileges, duties sand responsibili ties of American citizenship; to stimulate 'patriotism; to interest young men in the importance of mil itary training; to teach . self-discipline and obedience; and to develop the physical standard of the Ameri can youth through participation in military exercises, athletic games and sports, - conducted under' expert directors. Tbe basic coarse Is open to all young men between 17 and 24 years, who have the necessary phys ical qualifications and are possessed with average general intelligence and are able to read and write and who have good moral character. The government provides trans portation, meals and all expenses while in camp. , The officials in charge of the camp arrange various recreational features Including trips to Tacoma and important points In that vicinity. New frames, straw sloth, trimmings, just in. , o NOTICE FOR BIDS FOR 8EWER CONSTRUCTION Sealed Proposals will te received, by the undersigned at his office in the City Hall 1n the city of Roseburg, Oregon, up tf 5 o'clock p. m, Monday, April 21st. 1924 for the construction of a sewer in Laurelwood Addition to said city, to be known as the Laurel wood Sewer No. 2, In the manner pro vided by Ordinance No. 812. All bids must be submitted upon blank forms which will be furnished upon appllcatlo nto the undersigned, and must be accompanied by a certi fied check payable to the City Treas urer for 5 per cent of the amount bid, to be forfeited to the city In the event said bid is accepted and the bidder shall fall to enter into a contract and bond with the city according to the terms of said bid. A bond of 100 per cent of the contract, satisfactory to the city, will be required from the contractor. The time stated in the proposals for completing the work will be considered in awarding the contract. The council reserves the right to reject any and all bids. By order of the Common Council.
