MutKey, former state senator from Medford, was the orator of the evening, in a masterly address covering a period of 45 minutes, he vividly and eloquently portrayed the life of the martyred president from the time of his humble birth in the woo'ts of Kentucky in 1809 to the day of his assassination in the Ford the atre at Washington in 1865. ' Chairman Gates at this point asked if there were any present who had, personal recollections of Lincoln. The Oregon Pack-1 Ing rompauy Is offering to accept con tracts for gooseberries for 1924 at 7 cents a pound, according to reports from various growers. The number of contracts a not known. Growers are being advised by the canneries to watch the gooseberries this year and to spray if necessary, for last year many of the berries were plnholed. due.
