Mr. McGllvray, the retiring manager, took up tele graphing In Wisconsin in 1871. He was an operator for tho Western l:nlon for a number of years and then went to the Mutual Union, which company built a line from New York to Minneapolis, in 1878 he went back to tho Western Union for three years and In 1883 was employed by the C. 11. & Q. company when they built up the Mississippi from Gullsburg, Illionls, to St. Paul.
