Finley Mast, aged to. a cousin of County Judge Must, was Instantly killed and his wife seriously injured when their Ford touring car plunged off the grade on the Rosebiirg highway near Remote nnd fell between 75 nnd liiu feet to the rocks below. .The tragedy occurred when Mr. Mast, en route to his former home lu Coqullle from Pomona, drove his car too close to tho edge of the grade in passing a team and wagon. loosened by the recent heavy rains, the dirt gave way and before the light car could be swerved back to safety it had started on Its wild plungo down the mountainside. When the car turned over the first time, Mrs. Must was thrown to one aid", bet her husband, caught be neath the steering wheel, catapulted with the fated car as it careened from boulder to boulder on its mad rush to the bottom. Other autoists. drawn to the tragic scene, assisted Mr.j. Mast, who was br.rsed nnd bleeding, up the rough path to the roadway, whoro sho was placed In a passing car and rushed to Pcnberton hospit.'.l r-.t Myrtlo Point. Far below, the little Ford was found, a mass of wreckage. Beneath the debris of tw'sted steel nud wood there lrv the lifeless body of Mr. Mast. With great difficulty was the body carried up tho steep embank ment, and It was taken to Mvrtle Point. Mr. nnd Mrs. Mnst. formerly resided at Flshtrap, near Coquille.
