Captain Also Had Grievance. On of the petty grievances of prf. vale soblkrrs and Don-eouiwUxlourd offleers at Camp Taylor during the lata war was the ban on roilni rs. Sings, l'.ut they were frequently suiupgled in awl worn on trip home. On such an occasion a private from Camp Taylor had reached VlncwiDes. Ind, In the full glory of borrowed and Illegitimate lt-wKiiiar- Hoever, hi pride of possession wts sliort-llved, for ha mn..n ,nvr a captain whom lie had known slightly In civilian life. The rautaln. after looking at him la teutly for a while, strode up to him and our private had uncomfortable vis ions of a panorama from the guard house to the firing squad. "Do they allow you to wear rolled leggings at Cump Tuylorr the captain demanded with a flashing eye. So, sir," the private stuttered, "Humph," said th officer Indignantly, "they don't at Camp Grant, either, and I think lfs a gosh awful shame !" Panel's Interacting History. A gruesome story attaches to a Flemish glass panel of the Four teenth century, which was on exhibi tion In Ixmdon, with other stained glass work centuries old. On the panel Is represented the suicide of Judas Isonriot, with vividly circum stantial and morbid details. In old books of the period reference Is mode to a glass painter, known as Charles of Tpres, who Is known to have exe cuted a great part of the most re markable work of the time, having hanged himself to a tree. This and other evidence makes It probable that the panel was the actual work of this very man. Another panel represents what Is probably the only contempo rary portrait on stained glass of Richard III. It recently enme to light nfter being stored away In an Essex mansion for 113 years.
