The dress and morals of the woman of today were censured by Mrs. Grant Forsythe, In the president's nddrtss at the annual convention of the Woman's Christian Temperance Union. "We deplore many of the new customs and habit that have crept in'to women's lives," she said. "The too free manner and careless Immodest dress, the IneleKant, slangy language, the clgarette sninklng and wine-drinking, the betting and gambling that tire as meat and drink to many, if not to the majority of girls all re signs of the. times. We dare not leave them unchallenged, .Some of the evils could be rectified by legis lation; some only by example and teaching. Women's place still be gins In the home, and there we must look tor the remedy. Mrs. Korsythe said that she lott ed forward to the time when tiie legislature would give the p nple an opportunity -if expressing their opinion on the lit nor question, "and when our Int Iligent men and women would study th" question of prohibition with unbiased mind." The convention voted to ask the federal government to Introduce legislation in Australia which would give married women the right to retain their British ra tionality on marring" with an alien. Other recommendations urged that Australian representatives at the Imperial conference nhould enda Tor to have legislation of this kit.d made uniform throughout the Em pire. The secretary Raid that many women did not. realize that If they married a foreigner, tiny adopt. 1 the nationality of the husband and ould have nn claim upon an K i'; llsh consul abroad In the event t trouble.
