ITxlem Methuselah, remiteil to be 1 !t man on earth, has sturted to see the world before lie gets SHOWS ONE'S LOVE CAPACITY ' "Tslegraphons" May Bs Uied In th. Future ts Prevent Possibility of Unhappy MarrUg. One of the Innumerable nses to which the "telegrupliuiie," an Inven tion announced by the Society of Elec trical Development, may be placed ts that of preventing unhappy marriages. The Inventor himself, name nut dis closed, believes that If It can be ad Justed over the heart of the girl, her doubt-torn swain nil! be able to tell w hether she Is telling the truth or not. He had not Invented a way of making the girl put this lie detector on. The "teleKraphone" records the breathing and heart beats. It magni fies Irregularities caused by emotions and Is regarded by criminologists us a sure method of catching lying wit nesses. The lover suggestion Is put forward by the inventor merely as an example of what science could do If permitted. "When Juhn grows doubtful of the reality of Joan's love for him," he Bays In his dry, academic way, "he can satisfy himself by having her heart flutters meusured." If the girl puts up a strugsle at a suggestion that she wear this har ness during an evening of courtship John may be sure thnt he Is going to get several hours of lies. In that case there Is nothing to do but doubt every thing she says. Thus will unhappy tnurrluges be prevented. "' A-if,seft r--"- V REMINDER OF MIDDLE AGES English Clergyman Likely Will Havs - to Stand Trial on the Charge of Heresy. Charges of heresy with the possi bility that Knglund will have au ec clesiastical trial such as It has not known since the Middle ages have been filed against the Itev. II. D. A. Major, principal of Itipon hull, a theo logical institute In Oxford, by the Itev. C. E. Douglas. Further action rests with the bishop of Oxford, with whom the charges have been placed. The action grew out of an article by thes Itev. Mr. Major, in which he said that the resurrection of Christ 1 was a spiritual but not a physical happening. The Itev. Mr. Douglas churges him with "publishing doctrine contrary to the teachings of creeds and of holy scripture," and also "of Importing into the Christian religion the teachings of the eastern mystic, Buddha." The Rev. Mr. Major holds no ben efice, so the case can not, be tried through the bishops' court. The pro cedure which must be followed Is the old "procedure by Inquisition." Under this the bishop huvlng received the Information appoints "on Inquisition of priests" to hear testimony. The Rev. Mr. Major, since the filing of the charges, hns announced lie will defend his position. He Was the "Goat." One day last spring I attended a circus, and while looking for my seat prior to the start of the show, 1 chanced - to walk through the arenn. A young "blonde" lady came to me and asked me where the animuls were on exhibition. As I pointed the cor rect directions she fell In a fuiiit, right Into my arms. I was badly con fused and sturted to carry her to one of the platforms In the center of the Immense coliseum. Then I heard roars of loud laughter. I dropped her and started to fan her with my hat, when, with all eyes on me, I realized that the young "lady" was a clown who had been amusing the audience before the start of the regular show and 1 was the "goat."
