TUUN sciii:iH.E TO III: (TIAXiKH It was announced today that the time schedule of two of the Southern Pacific trains running through Hose burg will he changed taking effect February I J. "The Shasta," running between San Krsnclseo and Portland, will make the trip each wav an hour The retail druggists of the state of Oregon have chosen Itoseburg for their 1922 convention. At a meeting of the local druggists called In ses- ! nlon by Frank 8. Ward, secretary of the Oregon State Hoard of Phar j macy, June 5, t. and 7. was tenUt I lively selected as the date for the annual druggist convention. I Seaside secured the convention last year and Itoseburg will have to gather all the pep and energy that ! she can to equal the program featur ed by Seaside. The many attractions of this famous resort brought a large gathering, and yet with other cities bidding for the 1922 convention ; Itoseburg was again successful 1 against many competitors. The Ore gon State I'harniaeutical association represents the retail druggists of the state with Claud Kent of Cottage Grove aa the president. They hold a three days' session, Including the election of officers for the next year, and papers dealing with all matters effecting their association, wholesal ing and retailing, and general mer chandising are read' and openly dis cussed at these business meetings. At this time of the year straw berries and cherries will be plenti ful, and these products of the ITmp qua valley .are going to be featured In the publicity gotten out by this association. There are a large num ber of expert fishermen who are anx ious to meet here on account of the unexcelled fishing offered In the many streams of thla vicinity, for there la no river In the state where salmon as large as those caught in the lliupqua river can be taken by a fairly good fisherman. The majority of thaae delegates are driving their own cars as the highway from California to Portland will be In first class condition by June. It may be necessary to call on the local residents to list their rooms for these varloua conventions, as It is doubtful If the hotels can lage, care of this many together, with the large tourist trade which will be here at thai time. They will no doubt make their neadqunrtorg at the Hotel Ump qua, and arrangements may be made for tr'ding their meeting III the large private dining room. Jiayor Hamilton, nr. Seely, T)r. Houck. Dr. E. II. Stewart and Hon. II. I Kddy are being Interviewed by Mr. Ward regarding some of the de tails of the convention. All of the traveling men of the arlous wholesale. Jobbing and drug houses are spreading the convention Information regarding the wonders of the I'mpqua villey and the accom modations that can be had at Hose burg, and it is expected that this convention will draw a larger num ber of accr llted delegates than as sembled at Seaside. The Pmpqua valley Is coming Into hr own, and the Hoseburg Chamber of Commerce Is actively assisting In these big conventions and has been the driving and drawing force In bringing them to this city. I several selections. The chief feature of tonight'! pro gram will be Mrs. Fred Ohlson of j Portland, who Is to sing. lira. Ohl son is one or roruauu . ers. and has a very charming voice. ! Kho has siinaart.il In Koseburg before and her singing delighted local nius i Ic lovers at that time. I It Is expected that there will be a record breaking crowd at the show tonight as many have been waiting for tonight's program. Hecause of the limited nioiit of space It la very probable that many will be turn ed away aa the auditorium was alto gether too small last night to c-j commodate the crowd. ! The show Harts at 7:30. There will be a ahort Intermission between each musical number in order to give the crowd a chance to visit the different booths where exhibits are! being made and the management re-. queats mat while ine iramre ..uu.-ir.
