Girls Compose Unique Dialogue "Hotter English" week attracted a great deal of attention all over the tnited States, the school children particularly showing much Interest. Many unique stories, dialogues, etc., were developed by students working for better speech. One of the most Interesting of these dialogues was written by two sophomore girls In the Sutherlln high school, and the dialogue between "Had English" and noon; English" Is ns follows: II. R. llelloh, Good English! My n-.a said beings as how I hadn't came to p e. you for nuite a spell that I could come and set a while. O. E. Good afternoon. Had Eng lish. I am glad that you came this afternoon, as I have been waiting al, lay to correct some one's bad Eng lish. I should prefer that you "come" to see me Instead of "came" to see me. And of course I should rather have you "sit" than "set." B. E. Oh, well, can It! I says to my ma, says I, "Can I go with Ruth and Erma tonight?" And she says, "I thought I had learned you better than to say 'can I'." Ain't you jls got a picture of that there rumpus? It sure was a "hum-dinger." f- E. I do wish you would stop using such poor English! Sav: "1 have been trying to 'teach' yon, not learn- you or Is It Impossible to teach you? H. E. Aw, what do us girls care about such Junk? This here Is the first time I have had a enjoyable visit for some time and then you have to go and spoil It bv trying to learn me to speak Just right. O. E. Now you have said "learn" again Instead of 'teach.' B. E. Well, now, that there is list where I differ with you. 1 thought my speech was approvln' lately. It sure Is n heap better than i lot of them Sutherlln high school kttls. O. E. You do not differ "with" me you differ "from" me. Approv ing Indeed! Who would approve of such bad English ? Tl. E. Forgit It! You orler saw Mna and John a little spell bafk lie punched her. and course she Just husted right out a-laughln'. Hi, ha ha! T Jlst set there and roared O.
