When Legion olllcinls at National headquarters nt Indianapolis decided early In January that It was necessary to enlist the services of a legal adviser to thrash out the knotty problems of eligibility. Interpretation of statutes affecting the Legion and other legal matters, Mr. Adams was appointed to fill the position. His appointment to the new position enme as a result of elllclent service as legal adviser after an amendment was made to the Legion constitution at the Cleveland conven tion, which authorized the creation of tho ofllco of national Judge advocate. Mr. Adams has practiced law since 1DI0 and Is associated with a promi nent Indianapolis law firm. Ho Is a graduate of Washington and Jefferson college, and also attended narvard law school. He Is twenty-nine years old. Tho duties of the ofllce consist In the supervision of the legal depart ment of the Legion, the-employment of counsel In law suits In which the Legion Is Involved, Interpretation of legal questions, and the adjustment of questions of eligibility. TO BUILD WOMEN'S AUXILIARY Legion Administrative Machinery to Be Used in Safely Launching the Branch Organization. Assurance that the administrative machinery of tho American Legion will he used without stint In an effort to build up the Women's nuxlllury, lias been given by Natlonnl Comman der F. W. Gulbralth, Jr. It Is expect ed that the uuxlllary will take charge of Its- own destinies next spring, with the holding of the first natlonnl con vention of the women's units. "All doubts and misgivings In regnrd to the future of the Women's nuxlllury of the American Legion were removed, and a system of'orderly expansion In state departments und a national or ganization was provided for by the Cleveland convention nnnounced Mr. tinlbrnltli. "We propose to offer the aid of our organization In building up the aux iliary, but we are not going to meddle with Its policies so long ns our rec ognized Ideals and purposes ore car ried out. The Cleveland convention voted to let the women swim without water wings. It authorized state exec utive committees of the Legion to call state conventions and to establish de partment organizations of the auxil iary, killing the rule which made nec essary the establishment of a total of units equivalent to 50 per cent of the number of posts In the department." Dr. Inzer, who was born In Hamil ton county, Texas, January 0, 1880, entered the ministry at the ago of nineteen, his first pastorate being In Birmingham, Ala. He volunteered his services as chaplain In the army after the war broke out and served with the Fourteenth Infantry In the Northwest and at Camp Dodge, Iowa, where he was senior chaplain for three months. After the armistice he moved to Camp Grant, III., where he served until March, mio.
