Pat McArthur, congrcHsmun from

telling the voters that they should
not vote for Cox because of certain
editorials that appeared In Cox's two
papers, during the early days of the
Kuiopean war. These editorials ex
pressed sympathy for Germany aud
were written at thetltne when no
ore thought of America being drawn
into the conflict.
In editorials and contributed ar
ticles to the Outlook, Theodore
Roosevelt took, as did Cox, the Batne
position. In the early days of the
war Roosevelt in both public and In
private life expressed sympathy for
Germany and boasted of his Ger
man parentage. However, there can
be no question as to the loyalty to
America of either Roosevelt or Cox,
when it became apparent that we
would be brought into the conflict.
However, this Is all apart from the
question at this time. The pertinent
thing at this stage of the game Is
to inquire of Put McArthur, Juttt
which candidate Is receiving the su
port of the German-American ele
ment. The Literary Digest of last
week told specifically how the Oer-tnan-"American"
vote Is being or
ganized for Harding. Recent testi
mony of republican workers before
the Senate Investigating committee,
also told how the republicans had
bought up the foreign language pa
pers of th country to spread Hard

collected from forest reserves in the

secretary of state's ortice from the
federal treasury department for ap
portionment among the counties that
contain' forest reserves.
This money Is due the state under
the act of Congress of lmis. which
requites its use for the benefit of the
public schools and the public rm;is
of the counties in which the reserve

Becoming Popular

ly fruit has bfen enjoying in many
homes. Mr. Clarke has aibtecl many
new prune dishes to th unnii ami
states that they have met with in
stant success and approval from the
patrons. The following reripes were
received this morning with ihe guar
antee that they have been tried many
times and are known to be pond.
I 'rune f'uwt-irtl Wash ami soak over
night one pound of prunes. Next
morning cook until tender in the
same water In which they were soak
ed. Remove prune from the juice,
take out stone and remove the skin.
Kub the fruit through a colander or
fruit press. Mix with enouuh of the
julep to make the pulp thin. Return
the thin pulp to a kettle and heat
until almost at boiling point. Stir in
two well beaten eggs for every pint
of fruit. Remove from the fire at
once, and add lemon flavoring. Pour
Into a mould and let cool.
I'rune I'udillnic. Stew until ten
der one pound of prunes that have
been soaked over night. Add micar to
taste. Remove pits and cut prunes
into small pieces. Heat t lie whites of
eight eggs and add k ruin:, My into
tho cold prunes, stirring all the time.

pudding once while cm. V ing. Serve
with whipped cream. The above If

Prune Putter Th's makes enough
to last all winter and the longer it
stands the better it is. Take three
bushels of prunes bet'o-e they ar?
dried and boil until tender. Remove
the nils and skins. This will give
about 15 gallons of pulp. Coik the
pulp seven or e.jcht (7 or S hours
tirring constantly. A brafs kettle
should bp U:ed if possible. Add the
sugar and spices to taste, and if pos
sible, chopped nuts. Bottle and let
stand until wanted.

half pound of prunes; 1 cup of sugar
one-third cup cornstarch : 1 toMr-
snoon lemon juice; l inch stick of
cfmr'mon; otm and one-third cums of
boiling water. Wash prunes and let
soak o:.e hour. Hoi! until tender. Re
move stones from prunes, add tho

mixture and cook five minutes, then
remove cinnamon stick and add th
