asset. It Is necessary that our stand
ing timber be destroyed, to benefit
from the latter, U Is necessary that
a part of the timber be preserved.
The former Is a temporary asset,
and the latter can be made a perma
nent one.

Baby Has Many
Narrow Escapes
FRESNO, Cal., July 31 Lloyd
Raulaton, four years old, has won
the title of Fresno's "Dare-Devil
Ilfiby" as the result of three miracu
lous escapes from death during the
past month.
He rocently drank coal oil, but
suffered no III eOfects. A week later
he jumped from a moving automo
bile and struck his head on the pave
ment. He suffered only a slight lac
eration. Two weeks later he had bis
narrowest escape when he was per
forming as a clown on bod springs
in a second story room for his play
mate Reglna Nostrom. He first turn
ed some somersaults on the springs
he -remembered an act he had seen
in the circus and began bouncing
in the air and finally bounced out
of the window to the pavement Into
(he alley.
When Reglna ran to his rescue, he
as brushing the dirt Vhom his
clothes. No bones 'were broken.
