NEW SNAP SHOTS University to Give Musical Festival On June 7, S and 0 the University of Oregon will hold its first Music Festival under the direction of Mr. Albert Lukken, head of the voire department and Mr. Rex Underwood, head of the violin department. This festival promises to be a rare treat. There will be three distinct ovonts: On June 7 the festival opens with a Cantata. "Tho Laurel ' and the Rose," the chours being composed of all the city school children. The so loists are Miss Mildred llottitigcn of The Dalles and Miss Gladys I.ano of Keppnor. The University Orchestra accompanies the Cantata throughout. Several othor musical numbers of In terest ulso appoar on this date. Thirty-one he.id of purebred bucks and billies v.'ero sold at public auction. In ad dition to these there were 19 or 20 exchanged. The average price re ceived for the purebred bucks was a little better than S40 per head the highest bringing $65. It must be remembered that these were ull used animals and were ot no more valuo to the owners than what they coujd receive for them for mutton. The billies brought an average or MS.oO. Over 200 people attended the stile. This Is one of the first sales of tho cl nd ever held in the state aud the success of tho present sale Justifies .le continuance of the sale as an an nual event In DouglaB county.
