edly a large number of Jobs open In
the county and there are certainly
a great many men without Jobs.
There are ex-service men who want
to work and who are entitled to good
Jobs. The majority of them want
farm work and as farm labor is at
a premium there will probably be lit
tle difficulty in finding positions for
these men. The Lawrence-Cordon
company will endeavor to place men
out of employment and will do this
without remuneration. Persons de

First Ripe Berries
Are Reported Today
What are believed to be the first
ripe strawberries of the season were
picked by (J. H. Wilson on Iho hill
side near his place in Alexander Park
yesterday. The berries were wild,
but there are lots of them. Mr. Wil
son stated today, and of ihe lineal
kind for the uncultivated sort. The
berry season is fully three weeks late
this year, as ordinarily strawberries
come on by the middle of April. Cold
and unfavorable weather conditions
this spring have delayed this luscious
fruit, but In a few days the culti
vated varieties will begin to ripen
here. Mr. Wilson stated that he has
about elitht thousand plants in his
garden, and under the warm sun
shine of the past week they are rapid
ly coming to' a mature condition.
Generally throughout the berry dis
tricts of the county a big erop Is an
ticipated, and it is believed there will
he lots of the fruit by the time the
Strawberry Carnival date rolls
around.

Marsters Ranch
At' Nugget Sold
K. M. Marsters left this morning
for Corvallls, where he will accept
employment in a logging camp. Mr.
Marsters yesterday completed a deal
whereby he disposed of hit 39-acre
farm at Nugget to Mrs. Agnes Bob
Adsit, of Minneapolis, Minn., who
will make her home In this county In
the future. The farm consists of 39
acres containing a family orchard
Slid general farming tract. The
buildings are modem and well fur
nished. Mr". Marsters, who has
charge of the postoffice at Nugget,
will Join her husband at Corvallis as
soon as she .can secure her release.
Mrs. Adsit Is a new arrival from
Minnesota and is greatly pleased with

interest at the Seventh Day Advent
1st meetings, which began Sunday
evening, Kvangelist Rippey spoke
last night on the subject of Christ's
return. From John 14 ho showed
Kiat Christ promised to return to
this earth, and that this fans been the
desire of all ages. Ho alBO stated
that there were many other scrip
tures where prophets and apostles
had spoken of the second coming of
Christ. The speaker demonstrated
that the coming would be persona)
and. literal, using the following
scriptures as proof: Psalms .1:5;
Acts 1.9-11: Rev. 1.7: John 20.10
15 and 25-27. From these scriptures
the evangelist proved that Christ
would come as a man In the clouds
of heaven just as he went away, and
that we would know him by the print
of the nails in his hands, which he
would earrv throughout eternity.

9, and 2.8. he proved that the rinht
eous dead would be raised nt Christ's
