No dlri",t property lax whatever Is
required for the slate highway bonds
to be issued under tbp constitutional
amendment to be voted upon at the
election May 21. The measure Is for
Increasing tho state road bond limit
from two per cent to four per cent
of the assessed valuation of prop
erty within the slate, thus making It
possible to Issue sufficient bonds to
ompleto the main state highways.
Principal nnd Interest for these
bonds are flnnnced entirely by the
auto license fees and g.T'ollne tax,
without any ntces-illy for Increasing
either the license fee or the tax
above the rates now being paid. At
present rules, figuring only on a
mail Increase In the number of
auto for tho next few yeurs, the
revenue from these sources will mil
nder the four per cent limit, but
will lenve an annual surplus to be

Farm Bureau Monthly.)
As Douglas county Is preeminently
a cotton raising county, the business
men have organized for the purpose
of wearin goveralls for the supposed
purpose of raisins the price of cot
ton to the grower of the county. It
Is expected that this movement will
spread to tne entire stale, eviueuuy
being fostered by the "Patronize
Home Industry Association."
Div.irdas county has only seven
hundred farmers engaged In the
raising of sheep and goats: they own
sixty-nine thousand four hundred
and sixty-eight head of sheep and
gouts. Of course this does not com
pare with the amount of cotton that
Is produced In the county; therefore
"wvar overalls" should be the slogan
of everybody. This will sure get you
somewhere if it is carried far
enough.
