St. John, county commissioner-elect, returned to his home at Sutherlin last night alter a day spent here attending the annual meeting of the Douglas County Tax payers' League. Revised figures Indicate that approximately $20.0110 worlh of the birds were purchased In Doug las County during past four days. For most of tho turkeys the dealers paid 24 cents a pound. As near as can be determined, the turkey deal ers reali'ed not less than $58.IMM) for their product during the present season. The Louise Homo for children which Is located In Portland, has cared for 09 girls since the first of January. At present there are 28 In the hctnie. Forty-thlreo babies under the age of three are being cared for by the Alberllna Kerr Nur sery Home. Their family of 1 00 souls depend upon them for three meals a day and Christians dinner.
