Pnton, tho lumber deal er, has purchased Frank N. Gillett'8 Interest In the Sutherlin Brick & Tile Manufacturing Co. Mr. Glllett will again engage in the contracting and building business. Colby Adams sold his ranch of 180 acres southwest of town to F. Mc Meehlel and J. Headley, recently of Wilcox, Canada. The consideration was $18,000. The ranch and loca tion is one of the most desirable In Sutherlin Valley. At the annual school meeting for District No. lllO. held In Sutherlin last Monday, the proposition to vote a 10 mill tax on all the taxable prop erty In the district for the purpose of school maintenance, and the ques tion of teaching the eleventh and twelfth grades were carried by a very large majority; there being but two votes against the first proposition nnd one against the Becond. This means that one or two of the rooms on the second floor of the new school building will be finished this sum mer and additional teachers em ployed for the coming year. George M. Rasor. Mr. and Mrs. II. H. Gidney. of Days Creek, have returned to their home after five weeks absence, but Mr. Gidney is not much Improved In health. Mrs. O. S. Harris departed Satur day for Ottawa. Ontario, Canada, to visit at her old home. Her mother is ill. and her brother recently lost a hand by an explosion. She will be nwnv for two months or longer. Her daughter, Ethel, accompanied her.
