    Summer Weights
in Comfortable Styles.
,l4l 'i' 4 4'4, 4k4'
Few tailors can make you a quarter-lined two-piece .j.
summer weight suit as it should be. The lining humps or
straps across the back. Wrinkles fall just below the collar
behind. It takes expert, master trained tailors to handle
'vl
such work, simple as it seems.
STEIN-BLOCH made our twQ-piece, hot-weather suits.
They are feather-weight, of tropical fabrics; some are
silk lined just under the arms, some down the sides. They
fit smoothly, 'stylishly aud comfortably.

Details of the new street lighting
system, mentioned lu tbese columns
several days ago, have been worked
out by Booster Colt, of the Commer
cial Club, and will be presented to
the city council tonight. The plans
provide for 68 of the ornamental
lamp posts mentioned, each sur
mounted by Ave opalescent light
globes. This will provide for a row
of these lights on each side of the
street from the Hotel McClallen to
the Elks' Temple, and on Cass and
Sheridan streets from the I. O. O. F.
building to the Roseburg Hotel. This
will provide for of these ornamental
iron posts on each Bide ot the street
on each long block, and three on
each sido of the street on each short
block as on Cass street. The entire
cost for Installing this system, In
cluding the necessary conduits, wir
ing, globes, etc., will be $40 for
each ornamental post. ThlB wll also
pay for the Installation, all ready for
turning on the electric current. The
arc lights on these streets can then
be dispensed with and the cost to
the olty will probably be less than at
present and the city will be better
and fnr more handsomely lighted.
The property owners will bo asked to
pay the first cost of putting In these
ornamcntnl posts and a number have
already signified their willingness to
Install one each In front of their
premises.
A very attractive proposition for a
city park will also be presented to
tho city council tonight, along the
lines mentioned lust week In these
columns.
Not a quorum being present, no
meeting of the Commercial Club
trustees was held Saturday night.

MAN KILLED AT ALCA
CAME OF GOOD FAMILY.
Had Business Education and Was an
Operator by Occupation Body
Goes East in Short Time,
A newspaper of Springfield. Mass..
contains the following In regard to
T. J. McCarthy, the transient, who
was Killed at Alca, this county, about
three weeks ago. while enroute to
Seattle from San Francisco:
"Young McCarthy was born In this
city and was educated at the local
public schools and at the Springfield
Business school. After he left school
he worked for a time as an operator
In a local brokerage oltlce and at the
Western Union Telegraph Office.
About two years ago he got tho west
ern fever and worked his way to San
Francisco, where he secured a good
position In the aristocratic Pacific
Union Club. Last week his parents
In this city received a letter from him
In which he stated .that he would go
at once to Seattle.
"Besides his parents, the. deceased
Is survived by three brothers and
three sisters. A requiem high mass
will be held at the Catherdal Friday
morning at 9 o'clock."
A letter received from McCarthy's
parents by M. Fickle, of this city,
says the deceased was 21 years of
age, and that his body, now burled
near Roseburg, would be taken east
In the near future. The parents did
not know of their son's circum
stances, says the letter, or they
would have helped him.
