Wood Cough Mi-dlclne for Children. 8!uion Caro, the local merchant, thia afternoon received the aad news of the death today In Portland of bl later, Mra. Dora Monhelm. who for several year a waa a resident of Rose burg and Is well remembered here. Sirs. Monhelm was 60 years of axe. Her death waa due to paralysis, and It leaves Mr. Caro the sole surviving member of a family ot five children. Mr. Caro will attend the funeral, which will be held In Portland next Sunday morning. Mrs. Monbeim was twice married. Her first husband, Joseph by name, died in Germany. Her second hus band, C. Monhelm, died in Portland about 10- years ago. She leaves two daughters, Mrs. Amelia Rackman and Miss Belle Joseph, a school teacher, both living In Portland. Mrs. Monhelm (then Joseph) and her two daughters came to Roseburg from Germany In 18X1, and made their home with Mr. Caro and his family. In 1890 they moved to Portland. Mrs. Monhelm enjoyed a wide acquaintance during her resi dence here, and the news of her death is received wtUi deep regret. Descend ing on the little village of Peoria, last night, two burglars made a haul worth about $750, and have appar ently modi good their escape. They broke Into the general merchandise store or U. G. Berry, the only store In Peoria, looted the store of every thing of value that could be con veniently carried, and also blew open the safe. This contained more than $250 in money and this and at least $500 worth of stock was taken. There is no clew to the Identity of the burg lars. Peoria Ik a village on the Willam ette River, in the western part m Linn County, six miles west of Shedds the nearest railroad point. Being off the railroad, it is never frequented by criminals or even hoboes atul this leads to the belief that two experi enced criminal! selected It.
