Between 4 and 5 o'clock this morn
ing, fire destroyed the cottage In the
Watte Addition owned by George W.
Taylor, a local timber land locator,
who came into public notice a few
days ago through a charge of obtain
ing money under false pretenses. Mr.
Taylor, who lived alone in the house,
saved only a few personal effects. He
carried Insurance of. $600, which cov
ers hardly more than one-third of his
loss. It Is reported that the fire or
luated on the outside of the build
Yig.' which, if true, evidences a case
of incendiarism. Mr. Taylor inclines
to the belief that the Are was set de
liberately by some enemy, but he has
no clue to the Identity of such a per
son. The Are department responded
4) promptly to the alarm that was
sounded, but water could not be
brought Into play owing to the ab
sence of a passable avenue over which
the fire-fighting apparatus could be
drawn.
