Portland Oregoninn: While sit
ting in one of the rooms In the Elks'
Club yesterday, R. G. Prosole, a
visitor, suddenly cried out in pain
and urged those present to send for
a doctor. The man was evidently 111,
and Dr. Homer 1. Keeney was sum
monod to attend him. He said there
were symptoms of ptomaine poison
ing and after administering remedies
for temporary relief, had the patient
removed to Good Samnrltnn hospital.
Last night Dr. Keeney said that he,
and other doctors called into consul
tation, were unable to determine
whether the distress was caused by
ptomaine poisoning or came from ap
pendicltal complications. At 6 o'clock
the sick man was improving and was
thought not to be in a dangerous
condition. Mr. Prosole Is engaged
In railroad work at Roseburg and be
