Lillian Lewis, impersonator, were listened to by a good sized audi ence in the Armory last night. The entertainment wns under the auspices if the W. C. T. U. Mrs. Hadley Introduced Dr. Dan croft and Miss Lewis lu a few well .hose 11 words. Miss Lewis sang a ,'ontrulto solo entitled "If," which was thoroughly enjoyed, judging from the liberal amount of applhuse. Next Miss Lewis acquitted herself creditably In an impersonation of Aunt 101 Iza at the opera. Dr. Ituucroft then delivered his scientific lecture on "Hoodoos" deal- tig especially with the so-called sup ernatural phenomena; explaining why the table tips, dances ami ans wers questions at Spiritual seances; why and how Sandow lifts such pon derous weights, lie explained pre Ki'iitinuMits, "hunches," mental tele pathy, etc. Dr. Bancroft contends there is nothing supernatural about all these things; that they are all governed by known natural laws. He says every person is endowed with two minds, the objective and the sub jective. The subjective Is used only when the body and objective mind Ih at perfect rest. Dr. Bancroft gave several Illustrations to prove this point and also to prove that the sub jective mind was capable of receiv ing suggestions, and how those Bug gestiomj could be made to benefit the person without, his apiwirent knowl edge. Tbe subjectlvo mind knows no weight or distance, hence can lift any weight and receive messages from any distance known to the ob jective mind. Dr. Bancroft Is a very forceful and entertaining speaker and commanded the strictest attention of his large audience for over two hours, though the time seemed much less. He de livers another lecture tonight on "Whom, When and How to Love," from a purely scientific or physical standpoint. NORTH SIDE PLANING MILL Atterbery & Co. (Bid) Fisher celebrated the arrival of a new suit of clothes this morning with a light luncheon (a la tomato soup and beef tea) to which he invited a number of his inti mate friends. The clothes were built to order by the well known house or Hart, Sc ha ft ner & Marx, and ac cording to the popular verdict will attract more attention than even the suits recently received by t Messrs. Cannon and Salzman. The case of a number of Russinn heirs against the estnte of S. Marks & Co., H, Wollenberg, administrator, which was decided In favor of the plaintiffs In the circuit court at Clack anias county, has been aftlrmed by the Oregon Supreme court, and a ie tltlon for a rehearing denied. In this case the plaintiffs claimed to have been defrauded out of their Just shares of the estate, notwithstanding a settlement that was made with their representative by the late Asher Marks shortly aTter S. Marks' death. Mr. Wollenberg states that the de cision of the supreme court will prove a detriment rather than a benefit to the plaintiffs. The decision will force them to return to the estate all that they previously accepted In full set tlement of their shares, and that., owing to the condition of affairs, ' h ?y will recel ve less when fin a! distribution of the estnte Is made. BRYAN IX ROSEBURG. At the mi'iit Theatre Sunday af ternoon and Evening, Oct. 25. William Jennings Bryan, demo cratic candidate for the greatest of fice in the gift of the American peo ple, during his visit to Chicago, on Labor Day, posed before the moving picture machine. The photographing was done by The Sellg Polyscope Co., of Chicago, and it is a marvel of perfection, in terest and clearness. Every move made by Mr. Bryan, his walk, his gestures white speaking, his genial smile, his cheery hand-waving all these are shown with such startling distinction that when the picture waB first shown to Norman E. Mack, chairman of the Democratic National committee, he gasped, sat up in his ?halr and exclaimed: "Why, man, its marvelous. Simp ly marvelous." This is not a political picture at all. It shows one of the world's best known public men a man who is In the limelight of the world; a man who Ib seeking the nation's great est position of honor. It shows him arriving at the depot in Chicago, driving along the streets, arriving at the Auditorium Hotel, the largest hotel In the world, by the way. Next, it shows him on the balcony of the hostelry, reviewing the mon ster union parade of Labor Day. All the beautifully decorated floats that featured the procession, all the various bodies of men, the stockyards men in their clever uniforms, the various mounted squads, . including Chicago's - famous mounted police men all there are pictured beauti fully. The scene shifts to Forest Park where Mr. Bryan delivered his Labor Day address. The moving picture machine was located so close to him that every line of his face Is shown as clearly as though you were standing face to I face with the candidate. it certainly Is a great piece of work and you can t afford to miss It.
