Depot Operations for the season's run have begun at the prune packing. nouse oi .. w. riuson at uo.t in North Roseburg, prunes are begin ning to arrive and the packing and shipping will begin right away. A new bolter and other equipment was put in there during the summer and the plant put Into first-class condi tion for tho season's run. The prune crop is generally good throughout the county and the operations at the packing house will probably continue for at least three or four months. Concurrently with that above men tioned, the big packing house of H. S. Olio & Co., under the person) sup ervision of R. L. Ulle, Ib also ready for starting the season's run. Con siderable new machinery has also Ix'en Installed there and a large quna tlty of fruit will be handled. Both of these companies have houses and packing plants In Salem and together they handle several millions of pounds of evaporated prunes annually- I'ear shipments are almost com pleted at the Douglas County Fruit Association's packing house at the 3. P. depot In this city and carload shipments of apples will soon begin. Tills association is handling a large quantity of fresh fruits and berries tills season. It Is operated by the growers theniBolves and has proven especially valuable to the producers whose outmit was not large enough to Justify separate shipments. The K. I.. French Co's. packing house at Myrtle Creek, and the Helll well HroB.' cannery at Yoncalla, also are imoprtant factors in handling the increasing fruit output of Douglas County. KKSOI.UTIONS. The new exhibit build ing erected by the Commercial Club Is practically completed and will be occupied in a few days. ; Work was begun yesterday removing tne granite from that portion of the depot grounds, south of the exhibit build ing, prepartory to planting the grounds with flowers, etc., by the ladles of the Commerolal Club. This will be a very attractive feature for passengers to view while the through trains stop here, as well as their see ing the contents of the exhibit build ing. The depot bulldSr1; Is also be ing Improved with a new coat of paint. New songs at the Crescent tonight A Traveling Man's Experience. "I must tell you my experience on an eastbound O. R. ft N. R. R. train from Pendleton to La Grande, Ore.," writes Sam A Garber, a well known traveling man. "I was In the Brook ing department with some other trav eling men when one of them went out Into the coachand came back and said: 'There Ib a woman sick unto death in the car.' I at once got up and went out, found her very 111 with cramp colic; her hands and arms were drawn up so you could not straighten them, and with a death like look on her face. Two or three ladies were working with her and giving her whiskey. I went to my suit case and got my bottle of Cham berlain's Colic, Cholera and Diarr hoea Remedy (I never travel without it), ran to the water tank, put a dou ble dose of the medicine In the glass. poured some water into it and stirred it with a pencil; then I had quite a time to get the ladles to let me give It to her, but I succeeded.
