blowers entered the postoflice at
Parkland, a Tacotua suburb, last
night, and made a big haul, after par
tially wrecking the building will)
dynamite, used on the safe. They
.stole $1500 In government money.

' master Ericksou, 22,000 stamps of
2-cent denomination and 20.000 one
cent stamps. Postal Inspectors are
working on the case. Circumstances
show that the job was done by pro
fessional cracksmen.

dollars worth of cancelled stumps
were cleaned and sold throughout
Russia. Thirty arrests have been

were sold in Moscow alone.

heavy rains of the past lew days have
worked incalculable good in nil but
extinguishing the forest lires that
have for weeks been ruling in the
Cowhlnin district and theme toward
the heart of Vancouver Island. The
very cream of the island's most ac
cessible timber wealth has been lick
ed up by the Bros, and the Canadian
Pacilic railroad, the Victoria & Che
inainus Lumber Company ami the
Cowichan and I.mlysnitlh Lumber
companies are heavy sufferers, their
losses running far into six tiimres. It
is estimated that forost lires tints
far this reason throughout British
Columbia have caused losses approx

The heaviest of these losses was in
the Crows Xest section, whore the
destruction of the town of Fertile
was a heavy contribution to the para

In the town of Folsom,. New Mexico,
