On Whin Mother and Son Both Got Tiding of Disaster at ths 8ama Tims and One Where a Child Saw Hsr Father Saved In a Shipwrack. Out of 14U dreams of a very striking kind Investigated by one of the lead ing psychic research societies no fewer thun seveuty-uiue related to a death, and M?rlmpn (lie rarest of nil these dreams Is the case where two persons dreumed the same thing on the same night, and the episode cuuie true. This striking liiRtauce Is reported by the Itev. U. It. Ellington: A wotnnu parishioner of mine.' he says, "uiioBe liusbund was a nsncr man, nt that time ou the sea, dreamed one night lu terribly vivid fashion that bis little craft had Iteen cut In two by the towering steel bows of n great liner. Her eldest son wns with the husband, und as she woke she screamed out. 'Oh. save my boy, my boy! This was remarkable enough, considering the seiiel, hut almost at the very mo ment the poor woman was In lHr dls treflH, yet still asleep, another son was pounding ut her door, half asleep aud half awake, and crying. 'Oh. mother, where is father? The terrified woman now rose and let the boy lu. lie was crying. He told her he had distinctly heard Ills father's heavy tread coming up the stalra and his ponderous kick with sou boots against the door, as bad been his maimer when returning ab ruptly from n long cruise. Next morn ing the alarmed mother and wife told all the udxh'tors, and before the day was out the drendfu' news came that every detail of her dream was- true. The little trawling lugger had been run Into by a coasting liner, nearly cut In two and sunk with all hands, Includ ing her husband and son." ' Premonitory dreams occupy a large part of the psychological records, and the following case Is n very puzzling one: A Mrs. Spruit lived nt Baluialn. one of the suburbs of Sydney, Austra lia. Her hualmml was a sen captain In com urn ml of the Atneama. a wooden ship of 1.3iO tons, which had arrived lu Sydney lu n leaking state and was picked up cheap by a Qrm known as C'owllshaw Bros, for $3,500. Twice as much was neut Iu repairs, and then the Atacatna was sent up the coast with a cargo of coul. She delivered this and next set out for San Diego. Hut when &O0 miles out from Syd ney she sprang a leak, aud t'aptalu Spruit decided to put hack. In spite of the pumps the water gained, aud soon there was a depth of eleven feet lu the hold. Spruit now resolved to ahumlou the ship and launch the three boats. The captain himself, with one sen man, the steward, boatswain and an apprentice, was lu the twenty-four foot lifeboat, while the rest of the crew, twelve lu all, were In the other two boats. Heavy boms were running, and the bouts were nearly swamped. As Spruit could not swim, be was nearly drowned. Some of his men were lost. Their situation wus ludeed fearful In boats half filled with water and exposed to a fierce gale -100 mites from land. Again and again was Spruit washed out, but nt last his boat was picked up when Its occupants were In the last stages of exhaustion from fatigue, exposure aud lack of fowl. A reporter of the Sydney Morning Her ald called to Interview the cuptufu and found him barefooted, with terribly swolleu legs, covered with severe cuts and bruises. Now consider Mrs. Spruit's report to the Psychical Research society, which Is most remarkable. "Ijtst Thursday week." she writes, "at 3 o'clock In the mornlug my thirteen-year-old daughter Lily came into my bedroom and woke me by a tap ou my forehead. 'Oh, mamma,' she cried In a breathless whlsHr, 'I'm bo fright ened!' I tried to soothe her. but she only covered her face with her hands and whispered tremblingly: 'Oh. look! My papa's ship Is nil wrecked! Tnpa's come home nil In rugs, with his feet and legs cut. aud 1 see two or three of his men drowned out of the bout.' "I told Lily sternly It wus all non sense. "'It Isn't! she said passionately. 'I've seen it In my dream, and 1 kuow It's all truer "But I coaxed her off to IhhI. The girl kept worrying about It until the next Sunday. A week after her dream j my husband returned, and IJly found ; me crying when she came In from ' ?hool. I ' Oh. mamma. she cried sharply. Ms 'the tacama wrecked?' I "1 told her evasively her papn had come home. 'She was not to be denied, however. and asked, with strange persistence. Are papa's legs cutT "I said they were. "And the very tirwt thing she Mid to her father was: 'Why. you didn't have those clothes on when I saw you! The oties you had on were all torn In the shipwreck. Lily Bprult herself furnished a re port to the Psychical Research society. She sold she woke W terrible fright, having seen every microscopic detail of the shipwreck and Its sequel. She saw her father get Into the big boat and keep close to his ship for some time. She watched his boat capslxe and the Nit Allen drown. What woke her, she said, was the bowling of the wind shout the wreck, aud the last eh saw was the other men pulling her father back Into the waterlogged boat Wil liam T.
