Scio News: The republican party platform as adopted at Chicago last innii h Is apt to become famous for the planks it failed to ndopt rather than for those it did adopt. A poli tical platform should represent the principles and politics for which a parly stands and which would he . ....I i..,,. I,.ur uh(.iilil tlifil nnrtv be suc.-eBsful al the polls. Yet, It Is j sate to say, the republican party does not d'-slre to go In-fore the country as being opposed to the ejection of U. S. senators by the people. When the plank favoring the change of the constitution bo that the popular elec tion of senators would be possible. It was rejected by an overwhelming majority. Kvery voter .should keep IIiIb fact In mind next November. The same waa true of a half down other propositions which are generally de manded by tho people. They were all turned down. In fact the republi can party Is retreating from positions taken In former national conventions. It has ever posed as the friend of labor; but when organized labor ask ed that Borne limit or restriction bo placed upon the use of tho Injunction in labor disputes, tho measure was turned down by an 8 to 1 majority. The convention seemed to assume, no matter what kind or a platform was erected, the republican party would be successful, in other words the G. O. P. owns the country nnd can do with it what It likes. The Remedy Tlint Does. "Dr. King's New DlBCovory 1b thn remedy thut does the healing otherB promise but full to perform," says Mrs. E. It. PlerBon, of Auburn Cen tre, Pa. "It Is curing me of throat and lung trouble of long standing that other treatments relieved only temporarily. Now Discovery Is do ing me so much good that! reel con fident its continued use for a rea sonable length of tlmo will restore me to perfect health."
