voio on the Initiative and referendum

In full. It Is shown, howevur, that
the equal suffruge amendment was
(iffiated by a larger majority than
two years ago. In 1900 the vote on
Milt measure was; Yen, li 0,902; no,
-i 7.0V & ; majority against, 10,1711.
The vote in 11)08 was: Yes, 3U,8G8;
no, 58,070; majority agaliiHt, 21,812.
The vote on the unlveiHlty appro
priation was: Yes, 44,104; no, 40,
33"; majority for, 3.G19. The ar
M '!' appropriation was defeated by
a v to of 33.507 to 54,848. The free
; s bill was repudiated by a vote of
Zi 81. 6 to 59.406, a majority of 30.

tax amendment wbh defeated by a
vote of 32,066 for and 00,871
against, a majority of 28,805 agulnst.
The wheelmen's fluh bill, antagonistic
to 'he Lower Columbia Anburies, car
ried by a veto of 46.582 for and 40,
720 against, a majority of 5862. The
Ir.rver Columbia bill, aimed at the
fish wheels, carried by a vote of 56,
130 for to 30,280 against, a majority
ol 25,850.
