V STOMAL PUNCH THE CAUSE Aged Coroisbman Puuisbed at Will by O'Brien, Wbo Becomes Pre mier Heavyweight. Special to Evening Review. San Francisco, Deo. 21. After a game fight in which ha stood terrific punishment, Bob Fitzslminons col lapsed at the end of the 13th round last night from the effects of one of O'Bt'ien'3 left hooka to tho stomach. Up to the eleventh round O'Brien pun ished Fitzsimmons at will. In the eleventh, Fltz made a brilliant rally and landed several stiff wallops on O'Brien's heart. In the 12th and 1:1th rounds, however, Fltz was comptely at O'Brien's mercy. Fitz collapsed in the l.itb after staggering to his corner, and Referee Eddie Graney declared O'Brien the widner. The fight was witnessed by an tm-1 mense crowd, whose sympathies were alwavs with Fitzsimmons. and his nil- ,. i i . , , , . i I lies were enthusiastically applauded.! Fltzsiinmons' age, however, was too great a handicap for him to bear. On- ly occasionally did he show any of his old time form and speed, ana his blows lacked force. During the fight he was knocked down three times. FITZ QLiTS FOIl UOOU. Sick and disheartened, more from mental than physical illness, Fitzsim mons declared this morning that no amount of money could tampt htm to enter the prize ring again. "I was defeated, and defeated fairly and squarely by a better man," he said. O'Brien's victory gives him the championship of the world, a title which he will be obliged to defend against Tommy Ryan and Marvin Hart.
