This property, embracing flOO acres of land, lies between Marsh tie Id and North Bend and hasa waterfrontage of three quarters of a mile. A sensational parallel to the notorious government land frauds was disclosed here today when C- R. Griggs, a mining specula tor, was arrested on the charge of having swindled a number of persons out of sums aggregating a total of over $30,000 by means of fraudulent dealings in ficticious mining claims in Alaska. It is alleged that Griggs "located" some of his victims and to others he sold interests in the non-existent property, after which he chartered a special steamer and had them conveyed to alleged lacatlon of the mines. Upon the steamer's arrival Griggs was nowhere to be found and his swindle was thus exposed. Diligent search resulted in his being found ln Portland. j mm mrnm j Blockade Runners Taken. 8peclal to Evening Review.
