Tho Oregon state fair will bu held at fair grounds, near Salem, September 12th to 17, inclusive. Runaway Boys Two runaway boys, one named St. John, from Kugene, and 'another named Ired Sain Ion, from Portland, were gathered In at tho hobo camp by Marshal Jarvis Sunday night and last night they left on the overland train for their homes, St. John In company with his mother, who came here from Kugcuo on the local last evening, and Srnnlon in charge of the train crew and with a ticket purchased pursuant to Instructions telephone I to Marshal Jarvis by tho boy's father, who is pick lug hops near Imleiieudcnce. Tho meeting between young St. John and his mother was both humor ous and pathetic. The lad had quar relled with his mother over some trivial matter and ran away with the determination never to return. Two nights In the City jail softened hU feelings to such an extent, however, that when ho beheld his mother here ho threw his arms about her neck and declared between sons that he never would leave home agaiu. Youug Scunlon was one of the three companions of Wiley Williams, the l.Vjr car-old homeless boy who was sent to the reform school by Judge Thomp son last Saturday. Tho threo boys had promised Judge Thompson that they would return to Portland, if re leased.
