Mr. Smith in his race for Sent tie has thrilled the entire country. Starting from San Frajncisco he
travelled in a motor boat, train, alrp Lane, and automobile, setting a speed record which will probably stand

the banks of Alaska and which it was necessary for him to place aboard the mall steamer which sailed
