Carl Black, of late (proprietor of the Palace of Sweets, but now sta tioned at Fort Columbia, returned home this morning on a ten-day fuK lough. He says everything is pro gressing nicely at the fort and all the boys are busy. Returns to Corvallls. Miss Dobell, leader of the Honor Guard girls of the state, left this morning for her home in Corvallls after spending a few days visiting the Honor Guard of this city. Miss Dobell accompanied the Honor Guard girls to the cannery last evening to peel pears. Visiting In Tills City. Mrs. W. T. Wright returned last night after vlslilng in Portland for two weeks. She was accompanied by Mrs. Wm. L. McGeorge, formerly Miss Fannie Campbell, of this city, who, after a fortnight's visit here will go to American Lake to join her husband, who is in the service there. Homoward Bound. W. L. May, who has been on a tour over the state of Washington, passed through the city today. Mr. May states that the fruit crop of the northern state was line and he had onjoyod his trip greatly. Longworth and family lert this afternoon for Salem where ihey will make their future home. Mr. Longworth has represented the Met ropolitan Lifo Insurance Company in Hoseburg for the past year and was recently promoted to the position or deputy superintendent, with head quarters at Salem.
