The dfay ended all too soon and
at five o'clock -tho boating parties
began to make preparations for the
return trip, and the first community
fair for Smith river had passed into
history, but the seed has been sown
which will be productive of much
good, for the people of that magnifi
cent section of country are resolved
that next year's fulr shall be even
bigger and better than this one. As
they left Smith river the chief topic
of conversation - among the visitors
was the Smith river fair, but since
going to Elkton it- is now Sjnlth river
and Elkton, for there -they found the
same splendid spirit and practically
a duplication of the fair nit York
Place. One exhibit at Elkton which
Smith river did not have was the
sheep. .
Although three--' threshers were
running In the Elkton vicinity a
large crowd) was present Very near
ly the same program was carried out
at Elkton as at Smith river; The
list of exhibitors for the Elkton fail
have not yet been secured.
Features of both fairs were solos
by Mrs. Pearcy and Prof. Kadderly
and diuots by both of them. These
splendid singers responded graciouB-
ly to encores.
At Smith river, Noah Black was
elected president and Clifford Ben
son secretary of the permanent fair
organization and at Elkton, Mrs. R.
O. Thomas president and Mrs. Wal
ter Ryritoll secretary.
Tomorrow a community fair will
ho held in North Douglas at Curtln,
Friday at Scotts Valley and Satur
day nt Yonosilla. The calendar for
next week Is us follows: Monday,
August 26, Oalaipooia; Tuesday, Aug
