John P. Meyers.-who has been em ployed at Green for some time, was today released from the draft, by the local exemption board to allow him to enlist in the engineer corps. Mr. Meyers will be furnished with trans portation with which to report for duty at Vancouver barracks. Hooverizing Day at School. Today is Hooverizing day at" the high school and 'the student 'body is adorned In the various appropriate costumes in celebration of the occas ion; the boys in ragged overalls and the girls in aprons. A great deal of pin ensued during the morning and afternoon, everything being taken by the school officials in the right spirit. Appraisers Appointed. Anna W. Emery, duly appointed executrix of the estate of W, T. Emery, deceased, through her attor ney, a. L. Eddy, petitioned the county court to appoint appraisers to appraise a certain piece of property belonging to the estate and located in Coos county, and an order was made naming L. H. Hazard, J. Law rence and I.,. A. Lamb, all of Coos county to act in this capacity. Files Demurrer. : ,In the matter of the divorce case of Frances M. Caldwell vs. B. F. Caldwell, which was filed in the cir cuit court some time ago, Attorney John T. Long, for the defendant, has filed a demurrer setting forth that the facts shown in the complaint by the plaintiff do not show sufficient cause for suit. Attorney Abraham, for the plaintiff, now has ten days in which to file a supplemental reply. Riddle Business Men Here. Nichols, all of Riddle, arirved in this city this morn Ing where they are interested in one way or another in the report is to be submitted by the recall committee of the Taxpayers League today. Probated Will. A. G. Young, administrator of the estate of Hardin Davis, deceased has Hied with the county clerk notice of final decree, setting forth that din ing his incumbency as executor of said estate $3606.87 came into his hands. Of this amount $3268.7? plus $5.0o for advertising, was paid out, leaving a total to be turned over to the 11 surviving heirs $373.12. Real estate to the probable value of $8,767.87 belonging to the estate was not administered by Mr. Young. Riddle Delegation in City. A delegation of Riddle business men consisting of Ben Bullwlnkle C. T. Sowersby, H. A. Cutsforth Purdy Wilson, I. P. Gardner, Ernest Riddle and George Frater, were in the city today to meet with members of the recall committee whom it was alleged had decided' to take some ad verse action in reference to the Pa ciflc highway passing through Rid dle. The delegation met 'with the county court as well as the members of the other committee and matters were adjusted that will clarify the at mosphere regarding Riddle being left off the highway. Several of the parents -of Rosoburg soldier boys 'met- at the Methodist church last evening, for the purpose of organizing an auxiliary, and the purposes and plans are to be an nounced by a committee later on. The meeting was called to order by Rev J. C. Spencer, and after a general dis cussion, the following fficers were elected: Chairman, S. L. Dillard; secretary, J. E. McClintock; treas urer, A. S. Frey. On 'motion the chair was authorized to name a co.i mittee of three for the purpose of in quiring into the status of the Patri otic, League, an organization which was formed about the time the 4 th company left Roseburg, and the fol lowing committee was named: Mr. Frey, Mr.- Markee and Mr. Dillard. A committee on rules and by-laws was named as follows: B. W. Bates, Mrs. Dillard and Mr. McClintock It was definitely decided that this organization shall include all of the parents and relatives of. soldier or sailor boys living in Douglas county, and it is very much desired that every person having a son, brother, husband or sweetheart in, the ser vice, will report the " names, ad dresses if possible, . department of the service they are connected with and the name of the company, regi ment or division, to the secretary Immediately, so that a complete roster may be compiled.
