Mr. Hume has been firing the switch en gine in the local yards for some time and has accepted a run out of Port land with the Southern Pacific, Tlmtilcstflviitg at St. (Jeorge's. The public is invited to attend the services at St. George s church to morrow at 7:30 a. m. and 10 a. in. At the latter service there will be a short sermon with appropriate hymns. To Visit Husband. Airs. j. S. Taylor and children de parted this morning for ReedBport to join her husband, formerly a dis patcher employed in this city, but now an operator at Reed sport. The members of" the Eugene high school foot ball team passed through Roseburg this morning enroll te to Grants Pass where they will play the Grants Pass football team to morrow afternoon. Visiting l'i-om Chicago. Walter Thompson, father of Mrs. C. K. Hopkins, of this city, arrived in Roseburg last evening from Chi cago, and will spend the winter in this city. Miss Helen Studlcy left this after noon for her home at Eugene atter spending a week in this city visiting at the home of Mrs. Dexter Rice. Miss Studley is enroute to her home from southern California, where she has been spending several weeks. Phnscs Through City. Lieutenant .1. W. Crawford pass ed through this city this afternoon on the Shasta Limited enroute to Portland where he will spend Thanksgiving. The young people will be attended by only a few relatives and friends. Following the coreniony a wedding feast will be served. Funeral of Mrs. Auuio linker. The funeral of Mrs. Annie Baker, aged HO. who died Monday after noon following n stroke of paralysis, occurred this morning. The lady was a resident of West Roseburg. and is survived by her husband. C. B. Baker, a veteran of the Civil war, and by a daughter, Mrs. Viola Vernon, of Aber (teen. Washington, who was summon ed when her mother was stricken, ami who was here in attendance at the funeral. Returns From Portland. County .Judge R. W. Marsters. who was present at the opening of the bids for the construction of the new 12 mile atrip of Pacific highway. eliminating Roberts mountain, re turned to this city this morning and stated that the work, on this road would he completed late in the spring. Mr. and Mrs. H. C. Parslow and son, Raymond, departed today for Eugene where they will spend! a number of days visiting with friends. Rev. R. H. Dollarhlde returned to Roseburg last evening from the coast where he has been spending the past six weeks conducting a series of meetings. Mrs. A. L. Marsh departed for her home at Riddle yesterday. While in Roseburg Mrs. Marsh was a guest at the home of her sister, Mrs. S. K Sykes.
