The Mental Culture club held its regular meeting this afternoon at the parish house of the Episcopal church. Mrs. S. D. Evans, president of the! duo opened the meeting with a few remarks and was followed by Dr. .Kuceita Smith, who gave an inter esting talk on " The Crippled Chil dren haw." Dr. Smith Htated that too few , people know of this law and that various organisations such as the I'arent-Tearhei s Association, C. T. I., Granges, Federation of Clubs, etc., should co-operate with the state so thai the people may be come familiar with the law, which, briefly stated is "that any child un der sixteen years of age needing medical attention, whoso parents are unable to piuvide such care, may be sent to the hospital under the con trol of the medical hospital of the I rilversity of Oregon and receive treatment at no expense to the par ents. Or. Smith concluded her ad dress with a few remarks telling of the benefits derived from this law. Mrs. A. J. Lilburn then read di verting paper on "Oriental and Do mestic Hugs." Mrs. Lilburn was fol lowed by Mrs. Klmer Vincent who concluded the program with an ad dress on American Indian rugs. The next meeting of tiie ciub will be on September 25.
