Women" and children are taken on board the troop trains with their baskets of foou, the pots, pans and kettles which make up the furnish ings of a poor Mexican's home, the women citen taking bird cages, dogs and even goats with them on these troop trains. s W'hen General Murgula's trains ar rived in Juarez recently in pursuit of Villa forces, many touirsts came from El -so to witness the pictur esque spectacle presented by the army of the north in its typical field equipment. The soldiers wear the distinctive skull and cross boneB of General Musula's "Brigada de Mu erto" Death Brigade on their campaign hats, the Yaqul Indians wearing, in addition, a crimsou band on their hata as their regimental in signia. These soldiers were covered with thewhlte dust of the desert campaign, their khaki uniforms wero soiled with much -arolu s eating and their sandals tied to their bcown toes with straps. The women are even more pictur esque. They wear the bright color ed calico dresses of the Mexican In dians, carry babies in their arms and often bear the entire burden of the soldier's C3inp equipment on their backs. Little girls pat the flour and water tortilla cakes In their little brown hands while babies sleep in the shade of a blanket stretched over the roof of tho troop fraln cars. Bun dles of firewood hang from the slqeB of tho cars, quarters of beef swing from the beams of the box cars as the trains roll along while the lean. brulBed cavalry horses stand pa tiently in the stock cars. - Vhen leaving a town the Mexican de facto soldiers fire their rifles in the nir, choer for Carrunza'and thoir commanders and the train disap pears in a cloud of alkali dust, often pursued by soldiers who have tarried too long in a nearby cantina or sa loon and missed the train.
