His story was told in a very straiphtforwnrd manner and it was very easy for him to compre hend the legal terms used by tho at- tornovs who examined him. He was accompanied to this city by his son, Kd. Russell, who keeps his father at his homo In Dole. Grain seeding Is about finished and some farmers have their corn planted. Our road supervisor,' Virgil Wood ruff, has distributed the material for new road culvertB at various places along the highway. We are getting In line for permanent roads, Kenneth Conn has been appointed deputy sheriff for the military regis tration in this precinct and is post ing notices of this call for registra tion. Tbe date to be announced lat er. LoNolr Kruse has returned from an extended absence. We are glad to welcome him back. Mucn lumber Is being hauled from tho Carson saw mill at present, in dustries of all kinds are on the jump. . ' hear stated that the farm ers "are reaping a great harvest on account of the exorbitant prices ol f food products. This is simply a state ment made through ignorance. There is not one farmer in one hundred who is receiving exorbitant prices for his grain, potatoes, or other crops of tins naiu.e. Tho farmers practic ally to a man sold their crops at what they considered a fair price last fall. Now that the bulk of the food products aro In the hands of the speculators, prices are boosted out of sight and the farmer Is blamed for the high cost of living. As was stat ed by some of our senators, tho lamp post Is tho rightful station to which the speculator in food products should bo sent. With the extra acre age to be planted this year, the spec ulator is in the first ranks to en courage this work, for he is anxious that tho g-cater iwrtlon of tho crops may fall Into uis hands. We are certainly glad that Unclo Sam is to be on tne job and do the distributing of the food cropB himself this year.
