loggers' shoes and storm socks. They
caused a great deal of laughter upon
their entrance to the school room,

heavy weight of the snow and sev
eral linemen, were rushed to repair

ern Union over the S. P. depot

the snow storm had lasted an hour
longer that the city would have been
without lights this evening.

tions in regard to Bhort shipments of
liquor were made subjects of com
plaint today In the Justice court. One
defendant was brought into court
and lined $10 after pleading guilty.
The others have not yet been served.
The violations occurred during the
month of January.

House In Roseburg, Oregon,, until 4
o'clock P. M. on theU7th day of
March, 1917, and at that time and
place will be publicly opened and
read.
All proposals must be made upon
blank form to be obtained from the
county clerk, at his office at the
court house, Roseburg, Oregon; must
give the prices proposed, both In
writing and figures, and must be
signed by the bidder, with his ad
dress. .
Each bid Is to be presented under
sealed cover, and shall be accom
panied by cash, a bidder's bond made
payable to Douglas County, or a cer
tified check made) payable to the
county clerk of Douglas County, for
an amount equal to at least five per
cent of the amount of said bid, and
no bid shall be considered unless
such cash, bond or check is enclos- '
