Have you ever seen some cubs follow a trail of honey that has been especially prepared for them and which ends hih up in a tree? It is great eniertam ment to prepare such a trail and watch the baby bears climb over all sorts of obstacles as they eat the sweet material. However, if you try this, beware of Mother Ilear as she does not appreciate vour giving so much sweets to her Lahies. Recently Dustin Farnum re quired a scene for "Davy Crockett" in which a big bear was to rush at ranoe in which a negro was sleep ing. When the scene was about to be staged the question arose as to how to get the desired effect. The bear was there and quite will ing to rush at most anyone, but just how to get him after t he negro at tiie right time wt$s the question, "Honey." said Dutin larnum. P.ut where could we get honey (way out in the backwoods? Suddenly I remembered that I had brought along a box of my butter scotch which was promptly tried out. A large piece of candy was fastened to the side of the canoe not seen by the camera. The bear was lead un to the candy and al lowed to er:oy the swee's. When he was almost finished his keeper dratmed r?:m a" sy ai'icr consider able trouble. lTpin releaircr t'--bear the animal marie a wild ruh At the canoe, upsetting it ia bit AT THK MAJESTIC TOMORROW ... Good satisfactory bread and moro loaves from each sack of flour explains the success of and the universal satisfaction given by "High Flight" flour. The best In the west from the People's Supply Co. 883-tf eagerness to get at the candy. Alter replenishing the supply of butter-scutch on the side of tho boat he was taUcti away and al lowed to rush at it several times. Then the negro climbed into the canoe and assumed a sleeping pose, although there was quite noticeable a shaking of the knees as he did it. Probably lie feared that the bear might take him for a chocolate drop and treat him the same as he did the butter-scotch. At any rate the scene was finally set, and the hear dragged olf out cf range of the camera and the camera man started to grind. At the proper instant the bear was re leased with the result evidenced on the screen in "Davy Crockett," which proved one of the most hu . morons hits of the photoplay. When the scene was completed everyone naturally wanted a sam ple of the butter-scotch and in asmuch as my entire box wai emptied in a jifty I think it is saio to recomraerd it here: Butter-Scotch Place, all together in a saucepan, two cups of granulated sugar, two tahlespoonfuls of water and a niec of butter the size of an egg. Cook, wit Ii nut stirring. Hr nbo-.it Mfrn minutes, or until a little dronpri into cold water is hard and brittle. Pour into well creased pan and when ne-,ly cold mark into squa.es.
