It will be a contest in fruit and vegetable canning, speed and quality being points on which the competition will be judged, the win ning team from the county to go to tho state fair where It will meet teams from othor counties. Already four teams have been ar ranged for, one at Yoncalla, two at Roseburg, and one at Kiddle. One of the local instructors who is enthusi astic over the work of boys has prom ised to arrange a boys' team which he is confident will win from the girls. These contests are very popular in bo mo of the eastern states and have proven a very efficient method of in teresting tho pupils In sucli work. In Vrosenting the content, tho teams work at a long table, tho fruit being taken In the raw state at one end and after being prepnred to a certain point by one of the members of the team.
