Levi Strickland, a mouibor ot the Soldiers' Homo for the past two years, died after a Bhort illness Sat urday morning. Mr. Strickland was born In Walter county, 111., and dur ing the Civil war Borved In the 62nd Illinois Infantry, Co. A. He was married in 1870 to Miss Jane Lewis, nine children being bora to the un ion, seven ot whom survive. He was a momber of the Christian church and a devotod father and husband. The funeral was hold yesterday afternoon from the chapel of the Soldiers Home, R. E. Jope, pastor of the Christian church officiating. Mr. Strickland hiiB four children re siding In this city, Mrs. Sam Thack ray, Chas. Strickland, Secll Strick land, and Mary Mullen.
