The Atlantic fleet of Undo Saai'g navy started out today to cut circles around Itself to show tine American people what it really can do in Ihe nay of scrapping. The exhibition, in one form or another, will continue uniii November 1. The official program provides for fieot and divisional exercises off the North Atlantic coast In the vicinity of Newport, together with a war gumo in conjunction with the army from July 24 to 29. Target practice will be held on the southern drilling grounds from Sep tember 1 to 30, after which the fleet will be scattered to the home ports for docking and minor re pairs. Beginning today tho battleships of tho fleet will oporate singly for steaming trials and similar individ ual operations. After divisional exercises lasting for five days the divisions will ro turn to these bases, except that tho flagshp and First division will go to Hamilton Roads Instead of Tomp klnsvllle. Beginning on Juno 3 divisional excises ill again bo held, the bat tleships again returning to these bases on June 10, on which date the flagship and the First division will roturu to Tompklnsvllle. After five days spent In divisional exercises, from Juno 12 to June 17, the entire fleet will reassemble at Newport from Juno 19 to July 1. Tho week from July 1 to 8 will ho spont In the jusuul Fourth of Jmly rails at Atlantic coast ports for local celebrations. On July 8 tho battleships will again mobilize at Narragunsett bay and on July 10 will spend a five day period in fleet exercises. Iteturning to Narrngausett bay on July 15, the next four weens will be spent at anchor for machinery overhaul, ship drills and inspections, with the exception of five days from July 24 to 21), when the divisions j will operate in a war game In nu j assigned are'J, Turpi do exoruisos will also bo hvld, and the mining division and destroyers w ill engage . The mining division of the fleet will assemble In North ,r;ver on May 15 and will cruise and nnsagei in exercises on May 22 off New Haven, on June 1 off Provincetown and on Juno 5 off Plymouth, Mass. After a brlof cull at lloston this mining division will continue its ex-; erclses off Salem, Cape Ann, Clou-'. Chester and Korkport until July 1.' Tho Vestal and Solace will base oui Newport and will move according' to the need of tho fleet. The vessel of the active destroyer ' flotilla upon the completion of re-1 pairs will make a reconnolssance of , tho New England coast, after which i they will assemble at Gardiner's Bay j glneering rung and oscillator tests will be held. The cruiser squadron of the At lantic fleet will continue police and patrol duty, and will join In the fleet operations and hold target' practice as opportunity presents.
