Ray Marsters, of Happy Valley,

Lane Morley, who for some time
has heen employed In the Campbell
grocery on Casa street, has resigned
his position and expects to leave in
a Bliort time for Salem where he

The regular meeting of'the Parent
Teachers Association of the Rose
school will be held at the Rose school
Wednesday January 12, at 3 p. m.
A delightful program has been pre
pared and all members and friends
who are interested in the work of
this organization are expected to at
tend,
J. E. Sawytrs has completed his
administration of the George W.
Jones, Sr., estate, and the final hear
ing will be field tomorrow, Tuesday.
This has been one of. the largest
estates administered in the county
for some time, and the manner of
its administration reflects much
credit on the ability of Mr. Saw
yers. The county court ie engaged today
in making up the list of the election
boards over the county for the ensu
ing year. Inasmuch as there are 57
precincts over the county, it will be
seen that this Is no small matter
to get regulated with fairness and
abiltly. It will probably be the end
t the week before the full and com
plete list of names can be publish
ed. .
No word has as yet been received
from Daly Bell, proprietor of the
Rose confectionery, who left here
Sunday for a visit with his parents
near Elkton, and his relatives living
here are anxiously waiting a mes
sage telling of his safe arrival. He
left Roseburg, going to Drain i whore
he took a stage to Elkton'.' ' From
ttiere it is a long walk over a road
little used and which at the time was
several feet deep with Bnow. Al
though it is thought that he has
safely reached his destination and
is unable to send word on account
of the storms, there Is still fear that
he may have become lost in the
snow and as his parents were not
expecting him no search would be
made In case he did not arrive.
JURY'S VERDICT IS NOT GUILTY
A verdict of not guilty was re
turned by the jury in the' case of
the State vs. Chas. Durgin, Arthur
Marsh, James Dean and Harve Saw

killed while on a hunting rlp .in
October. The men were -arrested'
some time ago by Deputy Game War
den Orrin Thompson and taken be
fore Justice Brown wheer they plead
not guilty and demanded a jury
trial. In their defense they proved
that they had not wasted the meat
and that the evldicnce fo'und jhad
been left at their former camp after
they had left it.
The trial was attended by a great
number of residents of the county
who were interested in the case. The
verdict of the Jury was returned in
about ten minutes after their re
tirement. District Attorney George
Neuner appeared for the state andj
Attorney Cardwell for the defense I
