The annual session of the Woman's Missionary Societies will be held at tho same ttmo with Mrs. D. M. John, of Corvallts, 'pre siding. These sessions will brin to Roseburg many preachers, lay delegates, .nnd 'women ileegales. The opening sermon will he Wed nesday night, September 8, at 8 o' clock, Bormon by Rev. 11. M. Law. There will be present at this con ference session some of tho great preachers of America. Bishop Lam buth ts a really great man. Ho Is one of the most popular of the bish ops. Me has had extensive experi ence in Afrtcn and other foreign lands where he has been engaged in missionary work, lie is also a really great preacher. Dr. E. B. Chappell, of Nashville, Tenn., will be here and conduct several afternoon Sunday school Institutes. He is the general secretary of the Stindfv school bnnrd of the M. E. church South. He is an authority on Stmdav school work. He will be worth hearing. 1. l. Trice, of the church extension board, and Dr. W. W. Pinson of tho board of missions will be present. hPV. i II. S. Shangln, financial agent of j Columbia college, of Milton. Ore., ! and Rev. E. R. Naylor, president of the college will attend the sessions.' Dr. W. E. VaiiKhan, editor of the Pacific Methodi.-U Advocate, of San Francisco, who is well known in j Roseburg, will ho one of the strong men of the conference. ' Sunday, September 12, will per haps be a great day in Rnseburg. Connectional officers of the lchurfch nnd pastors of the conference will j fill -the pulJiits of the Various ! churches on this date, and the peo-! pie will have an opportunity to hear these men In their own churches. Definite announcements will he made from time to time dnr- Ing the sessions of the conference concerning the items of interest Rev. E. II. Mowro,the presiding elder of the Willamette district, who has been presiding elder for four years will be removed from the dis trict this month because of the time limit. It is believed that Mr. Mowre will transfer to one of the California conferences. lie is well liked in Oregon and it is with regret that people learn of his contemplated transfer. The preachers will be sta tioned for the next year at the close nf the conference on Sunday ntpht, Sept. 12.
